Ariela Barer (born October 14, 1998) is an American actress and filmmaker whose career began at age nine on the Nickelodeon series Yo Gabba Gabba!. Growing up in Los Angeles, California, she was raised by Mexican‑born Jewish parents—her father a classical composer and her mother a visual artist, writer and former comedy‑radio contributor—instilling a rich artistic environment that shaped her multidisciplinary pursuits. Barer’s early résumé features guest spots on ER, 90210, Weeds and a recurring role as young Cece on New Girl, demonstrating versatility across network drama, teen comedy and cable series. Her breakout arrived in 2017 when she portrayed Gert Yorkes in Hulu’s Marvel’s Runaways and delivered a memorable goth performance as Carmen on Netflix’s One Day at a Time, cementing her status among young adult audiences.
