Anna Unterberger (born 23 September 1985 in Bolzano, Italy) is a prolific Italian actress whose career bridges stage, film, and television across Central Europe. From a young age she was immersed in the performing arts, as her Danish mother worked in a theatre dedicated to productions with disabled participants, giving the future star a unique perspective on inclusive storytelling. By the time she entered high school, Unterberger was already certain that acting would become her vocation, and she financed her early drama and vocal lessons through a variety of odd jobs, demonstrating a relentless work ethic. Between 2005 and 2009 she pursued formal training at the prestigious Vienna Conservatory, where she honed her craft in both classical and contemporary techniques. Early professional engagements saw her appear at the State Theater in Copenhagen, the vibrant Summer Festival in Kottingbrunn, and the experimental Drachengasse theater in Vienna, where she quickly earned a reputation for versatility. In 2007 she landed her first notable stage roles, playing Helena in The Pirate and the Daughter and a part in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's The Visit, followed by a performance as Lysistrata in Aristophanes' comedy while still a student. Her tenure as an ensemble member at the Salzburger Landestheater from 2009 to 2010 featured a string of demanding characters, including Recha in Nathan the Wise, the Lord in Goethe's Faust, Peppi in Nestroy's The Evil Spirit Lumpacivagabundus, and Evelyn in Neil Labute's The Measure of All Things. Transitioning to screen, Unterberger debuted in film in 2008 as Gretchen in Urs Odermatt's Dawn of Evil: Rise of the Reich, and later portrayed Britta in Oskar Roehler's Jud Süss – Film ohne Gewissen (2010). A guest‑star appearance on the German TV series The Old Fox and her role as Minna in the 2012 adaptation of Daniel Kehlmann's Measuring the World expanded her visibility, while she also played Nadja Bredow in Snow White Must Die. In addition to acting, she contributed as a jury member at the Bolzano Film Festival in April 2012, and her talent was recognized earlier with a 2008 award in the Fidelio talent competition for interpretation.
