Born on 2 May 1986 in the Moseley suburb of Birmingham, Anna Brewster grew up in a family of school‑teacher parents and attended local schools including St Bernard's RC School and Queensbridge School before completing her A‑levels at Solihull Sixth Form College and honing her performance craft at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. From a young age she displayed a striking presence, which led to her being signed by Union Models at just fifteen and launching a prolific modelling career that spanned major fashion houses such as Ben Sherman, Aquascutum, Hermès, Jigsaw and Links of London, with editorial spreads in Vogue (UK, Italy, Japan, Russia), Glamour and Dazed & Confused, and representation by agencies across London, Paris, Milan, New York, Copenhagen and Stockholm, before settling with MOT Models in London. Brewster transitioned seamlessly into acting, debuting as Anita Rutter in the 2002 film Anita and Me and gaining further notice as Doris in Mrs Henderson Presents (2005). She earned a starring role as Kate Sherman in the E4 miniseries Nearly Famous (2007) and appeared as Anna Buckingham in the historical drama The Tudors.
