Andrew Lincoln, born Andrew James Clutterbuck on 14 September 1973 in London, England, is an English actor, writer, and producer whose career spans over three decades. From a young age he displayed a love for performance, landing his first role as The Artful Dodger at fourteen in a school production of Oliver! and later honing his craft at the National Youth Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he adopted the stage name Andrew Lincoln. After graduating, he broke into television with a debut in the Channel 4 sitcom Drop the Dead Donor in 1994, quickly moving on to a breakout role as Edgar “Egg” Cooke in the BBC drama This Life, establishing himself as a versatile talent in British television. Throughout the 2000s he accumulated a diverse portfolio, appearing in period adaptations such as The Woman in White and Wuthering Heights, starring in the cult‑favorite film Love Actually as Mark, and leading the Sky 1 action series Strike Back alongside Richard Armitage.
