Andrew Ralph Adamson MNZM (born 1 December 1966) is a New Zealand film director, producer, screenwriter and animator. He gained worldwide recognition for directing the DreamWorks animated films Shrek (2001) and Shrek 2 (2004), both of which were based on the book of the same name by William Steig. His work was acknowledged with an Academy Award nomination for Shrek 2. Adamson's talent also extended to live-action films, demonstrated by his direction and co-writing of the film adaptations of C. S. Lewis's novels, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) and its sequel The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008).

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Adamson initially wanted to be an architect but was recruited by Pacific Data Images to work in the United States following a car accident. His early career was peppered with success, serving as a technical director for Toys (1992) and Angels in the Outfield (1994) and visual effects supervisor in Batman Forever (1995). His work on Shrek and its sequel, both big-budget Hollywood films, cemented his success in the film industry, and he continued to achieve critical acclaim and commercial success with The Chronicles of Narnia series. In 2018, he collaborated with the experimental hip hop group Death Grips on their album Year of the Snitch. Adamson's films have received several accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for Shrek.
