Alison Oliver, born on 3 June 1997 in Ballintemple, Cork, Ireland, is an acclaimed Irish actress who has rapidly risen to international prominence in a remarkably short career. The youngest of three daughters, she was raised by her mother, a social worker, and her father, who worked in the motor trade. After attending Scoil Mhuire, a private school in Cork, she pursued her passion for the performing arts by taking drama, singing, and dancing lessons at The Performer's Academy and the Cork School of Dance. She later applied to Trinity College Dublin's prestigious drama school, The Lir Academy, where she completed a year-long foundation course in Acting and Theatre before being accepted into the main program, ultimately graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in acting in 2020. Remarkably, just one day after graduating from drama school, Oliver received the news that she had been cast in her debut television role, setting the stage for an explosive entry into the entertainment industry.

Oliver made her breakthrough playing the lead character Frances Flynn in the BBC Three and Hulu miniseries Conversations with Friends (2022), an adaptation of Sally Rooney's 2017 debut novel of the same name, developed by Element Pictures. She is set to play Isabella Linton in Emerald Fennell's 2026 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, further solidifying her creative partnership with the acclaimed director. On a personal note, Oliver is a vegetarian and has been in relationships with Irish actor Éanna Hardwicke in 2022 and, as of 2025, English actor Josh O'Connor. Since 2022, she has primarily resided in London. In September 2025, she signed an open pledge with Film Workers for Palestine, pledging not to work with Israeli film institutions implicated in the oppression of Palestinian people.
