Alex Winter: Movies & Box Office

Alexander Winter is an acclaimed British-American actor and filmmaker. He is perhaps most known for his role as Bill S. Preston Esq. in the celebrated 1989 film Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and its subsequent sequels Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991) and Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020). He also gained recognition for his role as Marko in the 1987 vampire film The Lost Boys, for co-writing, co-directing, and starring in the 1993 film Freaked, and for directing acclaimed documentaries throughout the 2010s.

Born in London, Winter was trained in dance from a young age. In 1978, he coupled his acting career with advanced formal education at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. This turned out to be nothing less than a decisive move as he met aspiring fellow filmmaker Tom Stern, a partnership that later launched numerous 16 mm short films. Winter eventually invested in a Hollywood career where he further distinguished himself in productions such as The Lost Boys and Rosalie Goes Shopping. In 1991, Winter took a leap of faith developing a sketch comedy show for MTV, The Idiot Box, and accepted a $12 million deal from 20th Century Fox for their feature film, Freaked. Winter progressively evolved into a successful director, his works included the live-action adaptation of Ben 10, a rock doc Downloaded, and the award-winning documentary Deep Web.
