Because of a mistake by Lord Brahma, Naresh is born a month early without the mandatory ‘Thalaratha’. This early birth leaves him without the usual human limits like death or disease, a fact that makes him an observer of life from a curious, almost mythical vantage. He also grows up with a deep fascination for mythological dramas, actively participating in them and treating every scene as a doorway to a larger cosmos.

During one taled festival-like drama, Narada Maharshi deliberately brings Yama’s daughter Yamaja to the proceedings. In the play she marries the young man, and this pretend bond gradually blurs into real feelings. Yamaja is drawn to Naresh, and he begins to reciprocate, drawn by her insistence and the strange chemistry of their staged romance.

News of this union travels up to Yama, who sends his son Yamaganda and Chitra Gupta to retrieve Yamaja. Their mission fails, and in response, the lord himself travels to Earth to reclaim his daughter. Yet Naresh’s fate twists intriguingly: he slips from Yama’s reach when he catches the tail of the Bull of Yama and tumbles into Trishanku’s Heaven, a journey aided by the disguised blessings of Narada. From there, a path opens to Yamalokam, the demon realm he will come to inhabit in spirit and story.

In Yamalokam, Naresh discovers unexpected allies, notably Ayyo (the wife of Yama), who hears his tale and lends her support. Through Narada’s guidance, he learns Yamaja has been captured in Yama’s Gada, and he resolves to win her back. He disguises himself as a woman to slip inside and eventually reconciles with Yamaja. Even after being expelled from Yama’s Gada, Naresh continues to win the trust of Yamaja and Ayyo, proving that his lack of Thalaratha does not diminish his resolve or his heart.

Frustrated but relentless, Yama attempts to erase him, but his efforts fail because Naresh possesses no Thalaratha—no script that would govern his birth, life, and death. This revelation fuels Naresh’s determination, and he steps forward as Yama Jr., challenging the cosmic rules that bind doom to him. Yet Yama understands that, even if he cannot kill Naresh outright, his own family would eventually suffer if the Thalaratha remains in play. To shield them, Naresh pleads with Yama to take his life after three days, choosing to surrender his powers and his bond with Yamaja for the sake of his people. He returns home with a heavy heart, aware that a greater test awaits him in Yamalokam.

Back in Yamalokam, Naresh foresees two dear losses: his father dies in a bus collision and his brother is brutally slain by Royyala Naidu, a formidable don who had imprisoned him after false charges. In a bid to avert this fate, Naresh seizes a chance presented by a stage opportunity and earns ₹25 Lakhs as remuneration. He uses this windfall to settle his brother’s debt, setting the stage for a tense confrontation with Royyala Naidu, who then strikes at Naresh’s brother. Naresh recognizes a pivotal clue—the shirt his brother wore matches one from his premonition—and in a decisive moment, he swaps the shirt, takes a fatal stab himself, and enters Yamalokam as a spirit just before the final blow.

Before Yama can snatch away his soul, Naresh acts decisively, fatally wounding Royyala Naidu and sealing his own return to Yamalokam as a revenant. Yet Aiyo’s protest and the appeals from Yamaja and Yamaganda move Yama to mercy, and he ultimately restores Naresh’s body. The story culminates in a renewed bond: Naresh is finally married to Yamaja, their unlikely union sealing a saga that blends myth, fate, and love into a single, enduring journey.
