Yakari: A Spectacular Journey 2020

Yakari, a young Sioux boy who can communicate with animals, travels the wide prairie with his devoted companion, Little Thunder Oscar Douieb. He shares his world with a fearless puma Tom Trouffier, a formidable presence in the wild. This special ability to talk to animals comes from his totem, the Great Eagle Hans Sigl, signaling the start of a remarkable journey.

With the tribe preparing to migrate, Yakari leaves the protective circle of his village to seek the legendary mustang. He longs to become friends with this swift, untamable horse, and the journey tests his resolve while revealing the profound bond between him and the natural world around him.

Along the way, the totemic presence of the Great Eagle Hans Sigl guides him, granting a feather of bravery and the gift to speak with animals. This awakening opens up a wider world where every creature carries a message and a role in his path.

His voyage carries him across the plains and into the rugged mountains of the North American continent, venturing through the territory of the formidable puma-skin hunters and through landscapes that challenge both body and spirit. The journey becomes a testament to curiosity, courage, and a growing understanding of the people and beings who share the land with him.

At the end of the trek, the breath of adventure seals a lasting friendship between the bravest papoose and the mustang, a bond forged faster than the wind and stronger than any obstacle they face together.

Rooted in the first comic album, Yakari et grand-Aigle, by Derib and Job, released fifty years ago, this 2020 feature film traces the genesis of this timeless hero with a gentle, hopeful spirit. A second feature film is in preparation and slated for release in 2026.
