In a fascinating twist of fate, professional thief Henry Manning finds himself confined to an Oregon nursing home following a massive stroke that seems to have robbed him of his mobility and voice. The facility is overseen by Carol Ann McKay, a former high school prom queen who settled down with her football star husband, Wayne. Intrigued by Henry’s infamous history as a bank robber who had evaded capture for three decades, she begins to suspect that his current condition might not be as genuine as it appears.

To unveil the truth, Carol Ann devises a series of intriguing tests. One notably daring challenge involves Carol Ann pushing Henry and his wheelchair off a pier into the water, daring him to either swim or remain imprisoned by his alleged affliction. Just as Wayne arrives to witness this shocking act, Henry surprises everyone by emerging from the water, revealing that he has been faking his stroke all along.

With his secret out in the open, Henry regains his ability to walk and talk, leading the trio to a local bar where he entertains them with tales of his thrilling exploits. It’s revealed that he had practiced yoga and vajrayana techniques to convincingly feign stroke symptoms, opting for the relatively comfortable life in a nursing home over the grim realities of incarceration. Amidst laughter and dancing, Henry takes advantage of the night by stealing Wayne’s car and vanishing into the darkness.

Surprisingly, Henry returns to the nursing home the next day, much to Carol Ann’s astonishment. She continues to take him out, and soon proposes an audacious scheme: robbing the local bank. Although initially dubious, Henry gradually warms to the idea, evolving it into an elaborate armored transport heist.

As they gear up for the operation, Henry shares his expertise with Carol Ann, training her to identify potential weaknesses in the armored vehicles. Meanwhile, Wayne’s suspicion grows, yet Carol Ann convinces him that she had always intended to involve him in the caper. On the night of the big heist, the trio encounters a few unexpected hurdles but ultimately succeeds.

The following day, Henry is set to be transferred back to prison, but Carol Ann strategically intercepts the transport, securing his freedom. Their elation is quickly overshadowed when they learn that Wayne has betrayed them, informing the authorities of their plans. As law enforcement closes in, Wayne emerges to surrender himself, leaving Henry and Carol Ann scrambling for an escape.

In a thrilling series of events, Henry uses Wayne’s vehicle to escape, dropping Carol Ann off in a forested area to ensure her safety while he takes off with the loot, leaving the police with the notion that he has perished in the water. Laying the burden of their crimes squarely on Wayne’s shoulders, Henry manages to evade the law once again.

As the film progresses to its climax, we witness Henry and Carol Ann at a jewelry store with a baffling security system failure. With her charm on full display, she successfully convinces the solitary sales associate to remove her wedding band in a secluded storage area, while Henry remains outside, masquerading as a wheelchair-bound accomplice preparing for their next audacious venture.
