We Still Kill the Old Way 2014

A retired East End gangster, Ritchie Archer returns to London from Spain to investigate the brutal murder of his brother, Charlie Archer, who fell at the hands of a local street gang called E2. The pursuit quickly reveals a stubborn resistance from authorities, with police seemingly delaying the case through incompetence, fear, or both. The investigation hints at a murky blend of crime and bureaucracy, and the tone remains tense as the truth begins to surface.

Ritchie rounds up his old crew to pay their respects to Charlie and to plan revenge. They begin by abducting known associates of the gang’s ruthless leader, Aaron. In the midst of the operation, Ritchie suffers a heart attack and is rushed to hospital, heightening the stakes and forcing the group to improvise under pressure.

At the hospital, the detectives’ daughter, Lauren, who once had a short relationship with Aaron and who witnessed Charlie’s murder, is used as a pawn to draw E2 into a trap. The plan is to lure the gang into trying to kill Ritchie in his hospital bed, a setup that escalates into a violent ambush. The ensuing shoot-out leaves several gang members incapacitated or dead, and Roy is wounded amid the chaos.

With tensions at a breaking point, Aaron threatens to kill Lauren unless the older gang surrenders. They do, but the clash between Ritchie and Aaron continues until armed police arrive and kill Aaron, ending the immediate threat but not the lingering grief and questions about justice.

The closing epilogue returns to a private airport, where the surviving gangsters bid farewell to Ritchie’s helicopter. In a final, quiet beat, Ritchie appears at their side and alludes to a shared past—memories of something they did “in 1969, with Charlie”—as Roy adds “in Turin” to the recollection, leaving a bittersweet sense of history and unresolved loyalties.
