A decade has passed since the terror of the Honey Island Swamp massacre, and the lone survivor Andrew Yong finds himself pulled into a high-stakes interview for a true-crime TV series—an interview that will allegedly take place in the swamp itself. He resists at first, haunted by his past with Victor Crowley, but his publicist, Kathleen, temps him with a life-changing payoff that starts at $600,000 and climbs to $1,000,000, turning hesitation into resolve.
The two set off on a private charter plane. Andrew learns the interview will be hosted by his ex-wife Sabrina and her crew: the audio tech Austin, the videographer Casey Casey, makeup artist Jay, and production assistant Zach. In a burst of catastrophe, one engine explodes mid-flight, and Jay and Zach are killed as the craft nose-dives toward the swamp.
Back in the swamp, a separate crew comes together: Chloe, her boyfriend Alex, and her best friend Rose are preparing a trailer for a film inspired by the Crowley massacre, guided by the eccentric swamp tour guide and actor Dillon. Rose dives into YouTube, hunting videos about the voodoo curse that originally resurrected Crowley, hoping to understand the dark force they’re about to confront. The two storylines collide when Rose and Dillon hear the plane crash and race toward the crash site.
At the wreckage, the surviving passengers find that all but a few have perished, and Casey is trapped beneath seats with water rising around the submerged fuselage. The plane’s tragedy is overshadowed by a dark return: a video of Reverend Zombie reciting the voodoo curse plays, cueing the rebirth of Crowley, who promptly attacks, killing Alex. Chloe manages to flee, but not before being gravely wounded and left as bait.
The chaos spirals further as Kathleen breaks down in a panic and flees, while Austin tries to intervene before Crowley kills them both. Crowley continues his rampage, finishing off Chloe and shredding the plane’s defenses as it sinks deeper and Casey drowns.
With the wreckage secured only by stubborn resolve, Dillon hides in the pilot’s cabin and attempts to radio for help. Andrew, Sabrina, and Rose scatter in different directions as Crowley claws his way toward the key to the survivors’ escape. The monster is momentarily thwarted when Dillon sacrifices himself, luring Crowley into the plane’s engine and destroying them both in a brutal, selfless act.
The following day, Marybeth Dunstan watches a news report that hints at a larger, inexplicable pattern—the discovery of several bodies seemingly unrelated to the crash. Realizing Crowley has yet again returned, she grips a shotgun and prepares for what comes next, declaring with steely resolve, “I’ve been waiting for you, motherfucker!”
