Four friends—Kalim, an auto mechanic, played by Angad Bedi, Gautam, a hardware specialist, portrayed by Neil Bhoopalam, Maya, a dedicated nurse played by Kangana Ranaut, and Abhay, a media professional, brought to life by Randeep Hooda—form the “Ungli” gang to combat corruption in their city. Their unconventional methods involve exposing corrupt individuals by using prankish tactics to deliver moral lessons.

In their first bold move, the gang kidnaps three pension officers who refuse to release funds for an elderly man, Makrand Dubey, who had suffered a stroke. To make their point crystal clear, Abhay straps fake bombs onto the officers, forcing them to run for their lives in a stadium, all while shouting that the bombs will detonate if they stop. The press catches wind of their audacious activities, and the media dubs them the “Ungli” gang, a name derived from the obscene gesture Abhay sends with his footage to protect his identity.

As the group gains notoriety, tensions arise. Gautam, feeling the weight of his family’s financial needs, starts contemplating quitting. Their next target—a corrupt minister named Gaikwad—serves as a warning to him. After successfully infiltrating the minister’s home, they sedate him and tattoo his body with ugly messages while plastering “Ungli” posters throughout his domicile. This act skyrockets their notoriety but also earns them respect from the public and admiration from media outlets.

Complicating matters, Tiesta, Abhay’s colleague and a budding investigative journalist, begins digging into the Ungli gang’s activities, making Abhay increasingly anxious, especially since he has developed a crush on her. Meanwhile, ACP Ashok Kaale, played by Sanjay Dutt, is tasked with uncovering the gang’s identities. He collaborates with his superior DCP Shivraman and becomes embroiled in the comedic antics of Nikhil Abhyankar, a bomb-squad commandant, portrayed by Emraan Hashmi, who often prioritizes his love life over his duties.

The narrative takes a twist as Nikhil starts seeking ways to bolster the gang’s fame through various schemes that reveal the politicians’ corrupt practices. He even attempts to collaborate with the Ungli gang, leading to an unexpected connection and confrontation. The backstory of Maya’s brother, Ricky—who is left comatose after trying to defend an elder from a violent youth—adds a layer of tragedy that strengthens the group’s resolve against injustice.

As Nikhil’s involvement deepens, tensions rise within the gang when they discover his true identity. After a series of confrontations, including one where Nikhil tries to save Kaale, who is contending with his own moral dilemmas, they ultimately come to a reluctant agreement. Kaale confesses his admiration for Tiesta and, in a dramatic turn of fate, aligns himself with the Ungli gang’s mission.

Their operations culminate in a daring exposé of a corruption racket within the Mumbai police that effectively restores honor to the force. Their ingenious tactic involving a chemical trick positively affects Kaale’s career, ultimately leading him to rise to the position of Commissioner. The gang’s efforts ensure that the streets of Mumbai remain clear of similar threats, all while fostering a sense of community and moral vigilance, fittingly assuring the city won’t need another group like theirs as long as it remains under control.
