Special Agent Beck [Jennifer Beals] is an intrepid FBI agent tasked with solving the disappearance of a multimillionaire couple’s daughter.

As clues begin to surface, Beck, who carries a secret gift of clairvoyance, works to link the kidnapper to the girl’s mother, Carolyn [Laura Vandervoort].

Carolyn’s affair with her husband’s business partner and best friend, Ben Tomlinson [Stuart Hughes], intensifies the pressure around the case and adds a layer of betrayal to the family drama.

The investigation uncovers that the mother and the partner had recently arranged for a hit man to kill the father, Mike Waters [David Storch], who had been in New York but returned earlier than planned.

Now, it seems the same hit man has kidnapped the daughter and is making it look like Ben Tomlinson is the kidnapper, twisting the motive into a fatal web of deceit.

A heated confrontation between Carolyn and Ben ends in tragedy when the partner accidentally shoots and kills the mother.

The FBI rushes in, firing at the partner and leaving the impression that he murdered the mother and perhaps the daughter as well.

Grief-stricken, the father resigns from his job and appears ready to flee the country after the chilling losses befall his family.

Beck, however, remains convinced that something is not right and uses her clairvoyant abilities by touching objects in custody—the teddy bear, the family’s cell phones—to reconstruct the truth and realizes the father orchestrated the kidnapping after learning of his wife’s and Tomlinson’s murderous plan.

Meanwhile, the daughter is found alive, safe in the care of Julia Waters [Shauna Black], a nanny who had vanished months earlier in Chile.

In the film’s climactic final twist, the father meets the nanny in a Chilean restaurant, and they share a kiss. He glances toward his daughter, only to be blocked by an unfamiliar figure who returns the teddy bear to the girl; the stranger turns out to be Beck.
