During a high-stakes DEA operation, a tunnel used to funnel drugs is raided, and the team comes under heavy fire; the clash ends with the death of an agent, setting off a chain of personal and professional repercussions. Seale’s son, Cody, belongs to a tight-knit circle of high school friends who are all children of DEA agents. Among them is Jesse, the child of the agent who died in the line of duty. The family’s loss strains Jesse’s household financially, forcing a relocation, and Cody grows frustrated with what he sees as a lack of meaningful financial support from the DEA for Jesse’s family.

Across the border in Mexico, crime boss Benito Cabrera seethes with anger over the raid and suspects a traitor among his ranks, ordering the punishment of one of his men. His sister, Natalia, travels to El Paso to oversee operations there, knitting together two worlds of crime and law enforcement in a tense balance of power.

Inspired by a mix of necessity and boldness, Cody and his friends hatch a plan to start robbing trap houses, hoping the money will ease Jesse’s financial strain. They lean on their parents’ knowledge and gear—night-vision goggles included—and pull off a first heist that nets less than five hundred dollars. The taste of quick money only fuels their resolve, and they decide to escalate with a second score: a van full of cash. The heist brings in substantially more, but it also deepens Cabrera’s trouble with the law, drawing the criminal boss’s eye toward the teens who are using his resources against him. Deni is left hospitalized with a concussion that has a delayed onset, adding another layer of risk and consequence to their actions.

Undeterred, Cody contemplates hitting another truck, but his friends pull back—except for Kyle, who agrees to press on. The trio succeeds in stealing the truck, only to discover it is loaded with drugs, a discovery that brings Seale’s attention squarely onto his own son.

Back at Cody’s home, Teresa—Cody’s girlfriend—drops by with her mother, later revealed as Natalie. Teresa quickly pieces together that Cody is behind the truck theft, and the revelation strains relationships further. Natalie’s involvement takes a dark turn as she has Deni kidnapped from the hospital, turning a dangerous personal decision into a crisis with life-and-death stakes.

As the pressure mounts, Seale and his fellow agents track Cody’s movements through his phone, coordinating a forceful intervention. In a brutal and calculated move, they kill Benito and Natalie, crafting a narrative that portrays Cody as a victim alongside Deni. The operation is designed to remove the threat while attempting to shield Cody from the fallout, effectively erasing much of the teens’ involvement from public view and redefining the cost of their audacious choices.
