Patrick Smash, a boy born with two stomachs, grows up in a world shaped by his extraordinary condition: sudden, powerful flatulence. Within seconds of birth, he breaks wind, shocking his parents Mrs. Smash and Mr. Smash, and even the family Doctor. As he gets older, his farts become so uncontrollable and sometimes destructive that his father must flee their home, and the people around him are knocked over by the sheer force of his emissions. The schoolyard becomes a harsh landscape, where he’s bullied by others, including Damon, yet he discovers a stubborn resilience born from his own condition.

Patrick’s only true friend is Alan A. Allen, a child prodigy with anosmia—the inability to smell. Together, they dream up a practical solution: Thunderpants, reinforced short trousers designed to contain Patrick’s powerful emissions and give him a normal life at last. Their partnership is a blend of ingenuity and unlikely loyalty, turning a troublesome quirk into a source of imaginative possibility.

A turning point arrives when Patrick is on his way to see Alan and notices a mysterious black car taking him away.
