Thrash Echo Score Breakdown

Thrash lands in the lower tier of shark thrillers, hampered by uneven craftsmanship and thin storytelling. Critics highlight clumsy direction, subpar visual effects, and lackluster editing, while users echo the sentiment with complaints about cheap CGI and forgettable performances. A few reviewers note occasional energetic moments and a modestly entertaining premise that can sustain a brief viewing. Overall, the film offers limited replay value, appealing mainly to viewers seeking light B‑movie fun rather than substantive cinema.

Our own 0–100 rating, built from five aspects: art, character, story, the sensory experience and how well a film rewatches.

  • Art & Craft 35

In terms of art and craft, the film suffers from rudimentary direction and unattractive visual effects. Critics describe the cinematography as lacking style and the editing as untight, with the Guardian noting that set pieces never cohere. Users similarly criticize the CGI sharks as reminiscent of low‑budget game graphics. The combined feedback points to a largely ineffective production design that undermines the film's potential.

  • Character & Emotion 40

When it comes to character and emotion, performances are generally viewed as shallow. While Collider praises the avoidance of completely flat archetypes, most reviewers cite forgettable acting and unengaging chemistry. User comments mention appalling acting and unmemorable roles, though decatur555 highlights Phoebe Dynevor's relative screen presence. The overall sentiment suggests limited depth and emotional resonance across the cast.

  • Story & Flow 45

The story and flow are perceived as predictable and underdeveloped. Critics point to shallow plotting, illogical beats, and a lack of standout sequences, with Empire calling it shallow and the Guardian noting flat set pieces. Users echo the predictable, disaster‑film formula, though some acknowledge the quick pacing and survival premise as mildly engaging. The narrative therefore offers modest engagement without originality.

  • Sensory Experience 35

Sensory experience is undermined by low‑quality sound and visual elements. Reviewers criticize the special effects, likening the shark CGI to video‑game graphics, and note an absence of a cohesive soundtrack. The chaotic visual style receives little praise, and users comment on the artificiality and inconsistent audio. Consequently, the overall sensory impact is weak and detracts from immersion.

  • Rewatch Factor 55

Rewatch factor is mixed, with some viewers finding guilty‑pleasure value despite the film's flaws. Certain users describe it as entertaining in a trash‑film sense and express willingness to watch again for laughs, while others see it as largely forgettable. Critics acknowledge occasional energetic moments that keep the runtime lively, but the lack of lasting cultural impact limits repeat appeal.
