Born cool, must stay cool. No matter the era, the mantra endures. In 1970, the string band “The Possible” rides a wave of teenage fever, topping charts. One day a mysterious fan gifts them a microphone that turns out to be a time‑machine, whisking the group forward to 2007. There, contemporary music dominates and the once‑popular group finds themselves out of step with the modern scene.

In 1969 in Thailand, The Possible stand at the peak of popularity, celebrated by their fans but increasingly consumed by their own egos. The band’s fame has inflated their sense of self, and they start to overlook the very audience that supported them. The lead singer, Toi, is seen cavorting with a farang woman, and his Thai girlfriend, Straw, is left to wrestle with the fallout of his indiscretion. The mood backstage is tense, with tension simmering beneath glossy surfaces, hinting at trouble that fame can usher in.
On the way to a show, Toi discovers a strange gift from a fan—a pink microphone known as a Hit Tester. He tests it first at a rival concert by The Impossibles, whose brash, vulgar lyrics disrupt the performance and steal the spotlight. The moment the microphone pins its power on him, the atmosphere shifts. Later, during The Possible’s own concert, a chaotic incident unfolds: the band’s eight-piece horn section is distracted as their trumpeter’s drunken stumble sets off a chain of backstage reactions. When the trombonist and saxophonist rush to help, a sudden flash of light envelops the group, and the five remaining members vanish from the stage.
They reappear in what looks like the same auditorium, only to find themselves blocking the view of a pornographic film and immediately booed by the crowd. Spluttering confusion becomes alarm as they step out onto the street and confront a Bangkok that has mutated in their absence. The city hums with the presence of the skytrain, louder traffic, and a level of noise pollution that didn’t exist in 1969. In a startling twist of fate, they have slipped forward in time by 37 years, landing in 2006.
The new reality presents immediate hurdles. Paying for noodles with their old currency proves impossible, and their mischief at a local stall leads to a jail cell. A middle-aged admirer, known as Ooh, recognizes them from his youth and cannot believe his eyes—these are the legends he once idolized. He decides to help the band adjust to this unfamiliar era, offering guidance and a steadying hand as they scramble to regain their footing.
Desperate to recreate the energy that propelled their ascent, The Possible decide to stage concerts again. Yet the music that once electrified crowds no longer resonates in their new world, and they discover they no longer have their horn section to anchor the sound. They attempt to audition new horn players, only to realize the old members hold the key to their past—and to their future. The trombonist is now a Buddhist monk, and the saxophonist has aged into gray-haired wisdom. The trumpet player died from the disease of alcoholism, leaving his daughter, Nu Malee, an orphan who joins the band after their plea for help.
With Nu Malee aboard, the group’s prospects brighten, but the path to a legitimate show remains blocked by old alliances and new ambitions. They finally secure a comeback, though the venue is a controversial revival at a porn cinema—a setting that challenges their sense of purpose. The promoter behind the show, Setha Sirachaya, once the lead singer of The Impossibles (The Possible’s famous rivals who would later rise to Thailand’s top tier of rock), stirs up enthusiasm among a crowd that initially sought a different kind of spectacle. The energy surges, and the pink Hit Tester finally hums with life, providing a bridge back to their original era.
In a moment that fuses awe with responsibility, the microphone’s power whisks The Possible back to 1969. There, they confront the consequences of the fame that once consumed them and choose a different path. They reform their personal lives and recommit to their music, prioritizing artistry and connection with their fans over headlines and superficial glory. Reborn by experience and guided by the lessons of time, The Possible establish themselves not merely as legends of Thai rock, but as artists who understand the true value of their talents and the impact of their choices.
