The Mini-Munsters 1973

The cartoon opens with a crew of gangsters asking directions to an oil refinery. After Richard Long gives them directions, the gasoline company president is found bound and gagged in the back of the gangsters’ car.

Soon after, a messenger bat arrives from Transylvania, and the Munsters learn that their cousins Igor Arnold Stang and Lucretia are coming to visit. The family heads to the airport and discovers the cousins waiting for them on the luggage carousel. At first, Eddie Bobby Diamond Munster, now a teenager, wants nothing to do with his cousins, erroneously assuming they’re younger, but their shared love of rock music soon brings them together to form a band.

Herman Munster, Richard Long, isn’t thrilled by the Mini-Munsters’ loud tunes, so the cousins offer to perform at the local school. With Eddie’s car promised to him, the family buys a used hearse to fit their gear. When Eddie asks if there’s enough room in the back for their instruments, Herman stretches the space and assures him there is, much to Eddie’s relief. They soon discover the hearse is haunted by the funeral director who owned it in life, adding a quirky twist to their new ride.

Grandpa Al Lewis pitches in with an invention that lets the car run on music once it runs out of gas. The device catches on quickly, drawing the attention—and anger—of the gangsters who’ve taken control of a gasoline company. The gangster boss challenges the Munsters to a race against his sports car, and the family proves surprisingly capable, winning the race. The speed seems connected to the music—Eddie, Lucretia, and Igor drive the hearse faster the more they play.

After their victory at the Grand Prix-style park course, the gangsters trap Spot, the Munsters’ dragon, by luring the family away from home for a supposed award ceremony that turns out to be a sham. Herman learns the ploy was fake, and the villains threaten Spot unless Grandpa destroys his music-powered invention. The young Munsters race to recover Spot and thwart the criminals, reclaiming their pet and stopping the scheme. In the end, Spot is safe, the invention remains, and the family’s makeshift musical-powered ride proves its value once again.
