In 1942, just before Christmas, the parents of siblings Gerda and Otto are arrested for their involvement in the Norwegian resistance during World War II. Suddenly on their own, the children find two Jewish children, Sarah and Daniel, hidden in a secret compartment in their basement. Determined to continue their parents' work, Gerda and Otto embark on a perilous mission to help Sarah and Daniel escape Nazi-occupied Norway and cross the border into neutral Sweden, hoping to reunite them with their families.
