In the village of Bakunda, Roy Hendrick returns after a brief absence to confront a string of eerie murders: victims bitten on the neck and drained of blood. The countryside seems to tremble under a fear that the locals, especially the Natives, believe is the work of a vampire. Yet Roy, his girlfriend Julie Vance and her father Thomas Vance, who runs a plantation nearby, refuse to surrender to such superstition. They cling to their own sense of reason as whispers of the occult drift through Bakunda’s shadows.
Seeking answers, the trio turns to a newcomer with a secret life in town: Webb Fallon, a nightclub operator who speaks softly of the occult and the tangled rituals of local voodoo. As they dig deeper, it becomes chillingly clear that Fallon is more than just a man with dark knowledge—he is a vampire. A dramatic moment seals the truth when a native fighter thrusts a silver-tipped spear, piercing Fallon’s veneer of charm and exposing the monster within. From that point on, Fallon’s presence exacts a chilling control over [Roy Hendrick], transforming him into a slave bound by an undead oath he cannot break or reveal to anyone.
The nightmarish grip of Fallon’s influence tightens as he first exerts his power over the man who would stand between him and his desires. Fallon then sows tragedy by striking down Lisa, a dancer at Fallon’s club, and an ambitious sea captain known to the town as Captain Jim Barrett. With two trusted lives torn away, the battle lines become clear: Roy’s autonomy is crushed, and the threat of a vampire bride looms over those who stand against Fallon’s dark will.
Amid the growing dread, the local priest steps into the fray, offering a beacon of resistance. Father Gilchrist lends spiritual strength to Roy, allowing him to resist Fallon’s spell and to seize back a measure of control—though the vampire’s hold remains a dangerous undercurrent in every move they make. The tension peaks as Fallon realizes the walls are closing in and he moves to secure Julie, dragging her toward the Temple of Death with the sinister aim of making her his eternal bride.
What follows is a tense, feverish chase as Roy, Julie, Thomas Vance, and their allies converge on the temple. With courage rekindled and the priest’s guidance fueling their resolve, they confront Fallon just as the ritual nears completion. In a final, desperate confrontation, they thwart the vampire’s scheme and set his stolen flesh ablaze within the temple’s ruinous atmosphere, ending his reign of terror.
The aftermath leaves Bakunda scarred but vindicated, with Roy free at last from Fallon’s venomous leash and the town’s people breathing again, reassured by the courage of those who refused to surrender to fear.
