The Two Mouseketeers 1952

In 17th-century Paris, two cheeky Mouseketeers, Jerry and Nibbles, decide to help themselves to a lavish royal banquet, drawn by the lure of plenty and the thrill of mischief. Tom, in the service of Captaine Rochefort, has been ordered to guard the entire spread with his life, facing the grim threat of execution by guillotine if he falters.

They slip into the castle and make their way into the banquet hall, where their feast begins to unfold. While they help themselves to the foods, an accidental shower of champagne catches Tom’s eye, pulling him into the scene. To stay hidden, the two disguise themselves as parts of the table decorations, blending with the ornate surroundings. Jerry considers retreat, but [Nibbles] ambles on, chattering a ham sandwich plan to himself while singing “Alouette” in a carefree tune.

Tom quietly closes in on the commotion and, with a swift move, captures [Nibbles] by running a rapier through [Nibbles]‘s tabard. In a bold rescue, Jerry stabs Tom in the rear end to free his partner, and hurls a custard at Tom’s face for good measure. A tense swordfight erupts, culminating in Tom catching Jerry. [Nibbles] then tilts a halberd toward Tom, shaving the tabard and exposing the feline’s fur in a comic, if sharp, fashion.

Nibbles bolts away but is sent sailing by Tom into a glass of wine. Jerry steps in to help, catapulting a tomato at Tom, followed by a flurry of vegetables and chunks of meat. Tom impales them all on his rapier, then heats and eats the feast items like a shish kebab, turning the scene into a surreal banquet of combat.

Nibbles, now clearly inebriated, climbs out of the wine glass and pokes Tom in the rear end, only to be caught again as the chase resumes. Jerry lands a blow with a mace on Tom’s head, renewing the duel. Amid the chaos, Nibbles brings a cannon into play, stuffing it with every morsel from the table. Just as Tom manages to seize Jerry, Nibbles lights the fuse and the cannon explosively blasts Tom with its full load.

In the aftermath, the two mice walk down the street, carrying some of the stolen feast, until a guillotine looms in the distance. A drum roll accompanies the rising blade, implying Tom’s execution. The duo exchange a relieved gulp, and Nibbles sighs: > Pauvre, pauvre pussycat, and, with a shrug, adds: > C’est la guerre!, as they continue their triumphant march.
