In the heart of Hong Kong, amidst the vibrant streets and bustling markets, Mrs. Lee and her young grandson Tom were beset by an ancient evil - the yaoguai. With the guidance of the enigmatic Zodiac Warriors, a mystical group of shapeshifters rooted in the Chinese zodiac, Mrs. Lee successfully repelled the malevolent forces, ultimately confronting the cunning sorceress Ms. Penny Loo, who wielded control over the yaoguai.

Fifteen years later, Tom had grown into a young man living with his grandmother in San Francisco, where he struggled to find his place amidst the city's diverse cultural tapestry. The appearance of his family's home, adorned with traditional Chinese charms, drew unwanted attention from a local bully, which ultimately triggered an unpredictable chain of events. As Tom inadvertently unleashed a mystical energy, the protective barriers surrounding their home were dispelled, allowing the dark forces to resurface.

It was then that Mr. Hu, the fearless tiger of the Zodiac Warriors, arrived on the scene, sensing the disturbance in the spiritual balance. With Mrs. Lee's guidance, Tom became the unwitting guardian, tasked with wielding the ancient powers to safeguard against the encroaching evil. As the two generations of guardians worked together, they activated a powerful blast intended to vanquish their enemies, but Ms. Loo proved resilient, managing to survive the assault.

As the situation grew more dire, Mr. Hu led Tom to a secluded sanctuary, where he learned about the sacred duty of the Zodiac Warriors and his role as the guardian. That night, Tom was visited by a prophetic vision, where a radiant Phoenix was shrouded in darkness, accompanied by a mysterious woman who revealed that Tom now walked between two worlds - the realm of mortals and the world of magic.

The reunited Zodiac Warriors gathered at the revered Temple of Twelve, only to discover that several members were missing, plunging their world into disarray. Meanwhile, Tom confronted Ms. Loo, who was revealed to be the enigmatic mother of Räv, a new student at his school. The Zodiac Warriors soon discovered that Ms. Loo had captured and entrapped some of their brethren.

As Tom focused on mastering his newfound abilities, he learned that he needed to unlock the secrets of the Phoenix Stone, which only those from his lineage could perceive. Mistral, the majestic dragon, shared a poignant revelation with Tom one fateful night: during the climactic battle between Mrs. Lee and Ms. Loo, Mr. Hu had sacrificed himself to protect Tom.

In the aftermath of their defeat, Mrs. Lee paid the ultimate price to save her fallen ally's life, gifting him a part of her very soul. As Tom came to terms with this revelation, he was confronted by his grandmother - or so it seemed - only to be revealed as Ms. Loo herself, who stole the treasured Phoenix Stone from Tom, setting the stage for an epic showdown between the young guardian and the sorceress.

As the Warriors await the impending doom, Tom shares crucial intel with the group about Loo's plan to harness the Phoenix stone's power on the eve of Lunar New Year, when the sun dips below the horizon. It is then that they converge on Loo, only to be met by a maelstrom of combat as the very fabric of reality seems to unravel. Amidst the chaos, Hu finds himself briefly enthralled by Loo's dark magic, but is soon liberated along with his comrades-in-arms. Yet, just as it appears that victory is within their grasp, Loo unleashes the Phoenix stone's true potential, sucking the very essence from the mortal realm. As if in response to this existential crisis, Tom finally beholds the majestic visage of the imprisoned Phoenix, its radiance tempered by the suffocating darkness that has claimed it. Seizing the opportunity, Tom frees the trapped entity, countering Loo's malevolent energy and achieving a decisive triumph.

Though Tom's ultimate victory is short-lived, as his mortal coil begins to fray, leaving his soul poised on the precipice of departure. In a desperate bid to preserve his friend's essence, Hu turns to the ancient lore of Nu Kua, channeling its mystical power to guide him through the treacherous Ocean of Tears. There, he implores the enigmatic Empress to relinquish a fragment of her own soul to revive Tom, and is met with a merciful nod. As the curtain draws on their odyssey, Hu offers his humble shop as a sanctuary for Tom's new existence. The credits may have rolled, but the true extent of Tom's transformation remains hidden until the mid-credits scene, where it becomes clear that the infusion of Hu's soul has granted him the extraordinary ability to transmogrify into a majestic tiger, a testament to the boundless power of friendship and the indomitable spirit of those who dare to defy mortality.
