Shin Chi-ho, Yoon Yang-ha, a nobleman, has long sought to secure a male heir to carry on his family name. His wife, Pil-nyeo, Kim Hyung-ja, grants permission to search for a surrogate, setting the stage for a delicate negotiation between duty, desire, and tradition. On the road to finding a surrogate, Shin meets Ok-nyo, Kang Soo-yeon — a poor yet stubborn 17-year-old girl who makes no secret of her willingness to do anything for money.
