Gabriel Howarth wakes up each day haunted by nightmares that tie back to the assassination of a US senator. He and his wife, Brinn Howarth, run a small, welcoming restaurant, and they share a longstanding friendship with Sheriff Hodge. As days pass, Gabriel finds that the memories of the senator’s murder are more than just dreams; they intrude into his waking life and begin to blur the line between memory and reality.

One morning, Gabriel experiences a sudden, disorienting seizure triggered by a music he hears. The disturbance grows sharper when a politician and his wife are depicted on a boat, and Gabriel ends up disguising himself as the assassin to confront the politician, ending in a fall from the boat and a fatal confrontation. He awakens again at home, the memory of the act lingering with him.

Brinn escorts him to a doctor, Reese, who prescribes medication. Yet the music returns, and with it a chilling sense of becoming something not quite human—almost robotic. A mysterious man hands Gabriel a list bearing the names of targets. In a subway showdown, he pushes a target in front of a train, triggers a police chase, and kills a pursuing officer before another explosion ends the memory with a new, stark detail: a finger at the scene matches his own. Sheriff Hodge appears and delivers a fatal blow to Gabriel, who sinks back into unconsciousness.

When Gabriel refuses the medication, the memories resurface with renewed force, but he also gains a measure of control. The Man hands him another list, and Gabriel pretends to follow the orders while secretly steering toward his own objectives. He avoids direct confrontation with Hodge’s men, choosing instead to strike at the people who are trailing him, and he manages to slip away from pursuit.

The pursuit pushes Gabriel toward a fateful confrontation with the doctor, and Sheriff Hodge arrives at the same location. Back home, Brinn is revealed to be entangled in the larger scheme: she is not merely his wife but has fallen in love with him, a revelation that Stevie’s life would never have predicted. This revelation sets off a chain of events that leads to a hospital scene where Gabriel fights for his life after a betrayal. In the hospital, he kills the doctor and a guard, and confronts Reese. Reese explains that his wife’s death spurred him to build a program designed to recreate human clones. Gabriel has always been the perfect killing machine for this project, and each new Gabriel carries memories of prior iterations.

The truth emerges: Gabriel is a clone of a deceased Special Forces soldier, and Sheriff Hodge was once his commander. Hodge and his men reappear, forcing a desperate escape for Reese as Gabriel sustains injuries. Brinn arrives to help, and together they fight their way through Hodge’s cadre. As Gabriel nears death, Brinn helps transfer his consciousness into a new body, and the new Gabriel awakens just as Hodge attempts to seize control with the same music that once governed him. Gabriel regains agency, eliminating Hodge’s operatives and steering the fight toward a final stand.

With the building set to explode, Gabriel and Brinn reach safety in an elevator, a sacrifice that allows the elevator to rise and keeps Brinn safe. Reese meets with the Man to discuss the project’s closure, and in the aftermath, Gabriel awakens again—this time in a new apartment, the music returning as a constant companion but no longer a master. The cycle has begun anew, and the memory of who he once was—along with who he has become—lingers, shaping every future choice and every heartbeat in this life that is both replica and rebirth.
