The Secret Invasion 1964

In 1943, British Intelligence in Cairo assembles a daring, multi-talented team for a high-stakes rescue: the Italian mastermind Roberto Rocca, the demolitions expert and Irish Republican Army member Terence Scanlon, the forger Simon Fell, the cold-blooded assassin John Durrell, and the thief and impersonator Jean Saval. Their mission is clear but perilous: negotiate pardons in exchange for freeing an Italian general sympathetic to the Allies who is being held in a fortress somewhere in German-occupied Yugoslavia. The operation is led by Maj. Richard Mace, a weary commander haunted by guilt over sending his own brother on a dangerous mission and waiting too long to bring him back.

A fishing boat carrying Mace and his men is halted by a German patrol, yet the team manages to outmaneuver their pursuers and continue toward their objective. They receive crucial support from local partisans led by Marko, whose network helps them split up and slip into the historic city of Dubrovnik.
