In 2004, successful, but arrogant, baseball superstar Tommy Santorelli, Luke Perry, of the Los Angeles Dodgers is knocked unconscious by a wild pitch during a fireworks display gone wrong and wakes up to find himself 28 years in the past, as his 13-year-old self in 1976. The jarring shift forces Tommy to reckon with a life he almost forgot and a world that still hums with sandlot dreams. At first, he tries to explain the strange turn of events to his mother, Sara Santorelli, Sarah Deakins, who responds with care and concern but ultimately takes him to see a doctor, a sequence that muddles the line between science and fate.
