The Real McCoy 1993

Karen McCoy, Kim Basinger, a renowned bank robber, is released from prison after serving six years and resolves to lead a law-abiding life. Upon returning home, she discovers that her ex-husband has told their young son, Patrick, Zach English that she died, making it harder to reconnect. Despite her determination to go straight, Karen faces ongoing harassment from her corrupt parole officer, Gary Buckner, Gailard Sartain, and struggles to secure honest employment.

Her former employer, Jack Schmidt, Terence Stamp, reappears with pressure to participate in a high-stakes heist targeting a highly secure bank. When she refuses, Schmidt and Buckner kidnap Patrick to coerce her into joining their plan.

Reluctantly, Karen agrees and teams up with J.T. Barker, Val Kilmer, a small-time criminal who admires her legacy. He helps her map out the operation and assess what it will take to pull off a bank job that would test both skill and nerve. Together they devise a strategy built on repeated false alarms that desensitize the bank’s security and create openings for a calculated take. As tension builds, Karen moves with precision, using steadiness and focus to guide every step, from timing the alarms to entering the vault.

Once inside, she succeeds in opening the vault and retrieving the money, but she refuses to hand it over to Schmidt. Instead, she flips the script, exposing Schmidt’s and Buckner’s illicit activities and turning the situation to her advantage while keeping Patrick safe. The act of resistance marks a turning point, as the plan shifts from a straightforward crime to a bold assertion of control over her life.
