A disillusioned journalist, played by Jack Nicholson, sets out to reinvent himself by taking on the identity of a man who died in mysterious circumstances. His journey takes him across the African continent and elsewhere, as he attempts to escape his past. However, his true motives become increasingly unclear, leading him into a dangerous and deceptive situation filled with intrigue.
