Scotty and his grandfather Gus run a modest sidewalk lemonade stand, hoping for a slice of summer business. Their small operation faces stiff competition from a gleaming sidewalk diner run by Leonard’s father, a bustling rival that seems to siphon off customers with shiny signage and bigger servings. On the curb, tension rises as a policeman stands ready to clear the space when the crowd thins, adding a layer of pressure to the kids’ venture.

To help, Buckwheat and his father, Buckwheat’s father, offer Gus a chance to expand to a new corner, giving the lemonade stand a glimmer of hope. The troupe—Spanky, Alfalfa, and the other kids—stages a bright parade and an impromptu talent show to draw curious shoppers toward Gus’s booth, infusing the street with a carnival-like energy.

Trouble brews when Buckwheat, who cannot read, accidentally swaps starch for sugar in the lemonade. The batch tastes off, the customers spit it out, and once again the crowd calls the [policeman], disrupting the scene. Leonard is unaware of the goings-on as the crowd reacts, and the playful chaos continues to unfold around the makeshift lemonade stand.

In the midst of the commotion, Spanky orchestrates a cheeky prank by slipping an electric scalp-massager into Leonard’s pants, repeatedly turning the plug on and off as his band bursts into a spirited rendition of “Stars and Stripes Forever.” The odd spectacle draws a larger crowd, turning the moment into a memorable, if mischievous, highlight of the day.
