The Jerusalem File 1972

David Armstrong Bruce Davison is an American archaeology student studying at the University of Jerusalem. His old Arab friend from Yale, Rashid Rifaat Ze’ev Revach, pulls him into a tense power struggle between rival Arab terrorist groups. After an assassination attempt on Rifaat nearly claims his life, Rifaat goes into hiding, leaving Armstrong to navigate a dangerous web of loyalties and danger.

Professor Lang Nicol Williamson at the university steps in to protect Armstrong, concealing him at an archaeological dig at Qumran in the West Bank. He vows to help Armstrong return to America, but Major Samuels Donald Pleasence of the Shin Bet confiscates Armstrong’s passport, aiming to use him as a source to learn about the network and to identify Rifaat as the leader of the West Bank Resistance.

At the Qumran site, the beautiful Nurit Daria Halprin seduces Armstrong to keep him loyal to their faction and to arrange a meeting with Rifaat. Armstrong then returns to Jerusalem and tries to contact Rifaat by presenting a special coin to a local antique dealer, who is later killed. Professor Lang intercepts the coin, trying to derail Armstrong’s plan and make him face the consequences of his choices.

Despite Lang’s efforts to steer him away, Armstrong presses on, and a desert meeting with Rifaat is set in motion. The encounter, filled with tension and conflicting loyalties, unfolds with disastrous consequences. The story unfolds against the backdrop of a region still reeling from the 1967 Six Day War, where political passion and personal risk collide in urgent,ffaithful prose.
