The Hunter 1980

In the late 1960s, within the steel town of Clairton, Pennsylvania, a close-knit group of Russian-American steel workers find themselves at a crossroads of life, grappling with imminent changes. Among them are Michael, portrayed by Steve McQueen, Steven, played by John Savage, Nick as depicted by Christopher Walken, alongside Stanley, John, and Axel. These friends are on the brink of two significant rites of passage: the marriage of one and military enlistment for three of their number.

As they immerse themselves in their routine of camaraderie at a local bar and relish in weekend deer hunting trips, a subtle tension begins to brew in the background. The tranquility of their lives is shattered when three of them enlist in the airborne infantry, preparing to leave for Vietnam. Before their deployment, Steven marries Angela, who is pregnant with his child, in a wedding that doubles as a farewell party for the friends.
