In a playful silent-era vignette, Georges Méliès appears as The Bill Poster, diligently affixing a large canvas-and-wood billboard that advertises L’Amour à crédit for the Parisiana music hall. The frame is crowded with other posters hawking a range of goods: Poirot meat extract, Tripaulin paint, Nouveau Dépôt porcelain, Poudre de Fées face powder, Quinquina au Cacao liqueur, Trouillottine lamps, and Mignon corsets.
When the coast is clear, the figures painted on the posters begin to come to life. The two Parisiana stars step fully out of their image and mingle with the residents of the other posters, busily chatting and moving about in a bustling, comic chorus.
