Eubie is a cheerful elf who works in Santa’s workshop at the North Pole, quietly sorting through the Naughty and Nice Lists. While reviewing, he discovers that every child in Bluesville is marked as naughty, which spurs him to investigate the town’s odd gloom. Bluesville is a shadowy place ringed by cliffs, where sunlight is scarce and the residents carry a quiet sadness. The mayor explains that Bluesville produces non-flammable coal and promises to set up a Christmas tree in the town square if Eubie can find a fresh use for the coal.
