What Is The Eye of the Monocle About?

The premise of The Eye of the Monocle without spoilers.

In 1943 a German commando hides a large cache of gold in an underwater cave on Corsica’s coast. Years later the sole survivor, Schlumpf, returns to claim it, pursued by British and Soviet agents and shadowed by Dromard of French intelligence. Though Dromard believes he can outwit everyone, Schlumpf’s cunning, a flood of multinational treasure hunters, shifting alliances, betrayal and brute force make the race for the loot a tangled, high‑stakes contest.
