What Is The Boy About?

During a sweltering summer in 1989, nine-year-old Ted Henley feels abandoned when his mother leaves their struggling motel in the American West. Claire Peterson, portrayed by Jennifer Lopez, is grappling with the emotional fallout of nearly ending her marriage to Garrett, played by John Corbett, after discovering his infidelity with his secretary. After a heated confrontation, she expels him from their home, creating a deep divide between them, which also affects their son, Kevin, as he struggles to understand the situation. Thankfully, Claire finds support from her loyal friend Vicky Lansing, played by Kristin Chenoweth, who pushes her to finalize the divorce and cut ties with Garrett.
