The Big Picture 2000

A career woman named Wendy, played by Robyn Moore, never imagined going out with a man named Jack Michael Priest. She is deeply focused on her professional life and not actively seeking romance, yet Jack’s arrival with a white flower hints at a chance encounter that could alter her beliefs about what’s possible. He asks for a dinner date that very night, but Wendy declines, insisting she is too tired to go out.

After Jack leaves, Wendy returns to her living room, placing the white flower in a vase on the table, pours a glass of wine, and begins flipping through the TV channels. One screen unexpectedly shows her own living room from a stranger’s perspective. Startled, she spills the wine and tries to locate the camera. As she examines the setup, everything seems off, and she keeps switching channels to glimpse an alternate version of events—an alternate Jack offering the flower and Wendy accepting the dinner date, leading to them making spaghetti and eventually making love.

From there, the channels reveal a broader arc: Jack and Wendy fall in love, their engagement party, moving to a new house, two babies. Later, one of the children grows up, sneaks back into the house and injures her knee on the living room floor, waking an older Wendy who offers support. A final scene shows Jack and Wendy as an elderly couple, with Jack bringing Wendy another white flower to symbolize enduring love, before the channel shifts to static.

Having seen this possible life, Wendy feels the emotional pull of the vision. She puts on her shoes and crosses the street toward Jack’s home, only to be struck by a car in the middle of the road.
