Pia, played by Simone Ashley, is a talented portrait studio owner who dreams of independence despite her family’s wishes. Her younger sister Sonal, portrayed by Anoushka Chadha, is engaged to her fiancé Sam, and their mother Laxmi, played by Sindhu Vee, hopes Pia will find love too. However, Pia is determined to remain single and believes she doesn’t need a partner to define her happiness. Her struggling studio faces financial difficulties, putting her livelihood at risk.

The story unfolds as Pia reflects on her past and present romantic possibilities. During a conversation with her co-worker Jay, played by Luke Fetherston, he inquires about her former love, Charlie, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin. Pia admits that Charlie is now with Lily, Sophia La Porta, who will be the best man at Sonal’s wedding. Despite her feelings, Pia tries to move forward.

A fortune-teller predicts that Pia’s future partner will be found among the next five people she meets. This prophecy comes true when, at a pre-wedding celebration for Sonal’s upcoming wedding, she encounters Akshay, played by Nikesh Patel. Akshay is an old friend and becomes a significant part of her story, especially after an amusing yet dramatic incident at a date. During their coffee meeting, Pia offers Akshay strawberries and brownies, but he soon suffers an allergic reaction, which Pia swiftly remedies using an epinephrine injection from his bag. The moment sparks some chemistry, yet it’s complicated as Akshay unexpectedly yells out her mother’s name, Laxmi, before claiming he’s going out with her, adding a humorous twist to their interaction. Pia quickly departs, feeling the emotional whirlwind.

Meanwhile, Charlie surprises Pia by visiting her studio, requesting a portrait. Their interaction is filled with bittersweet memories and unresolved feelings. Charlie confesses he still thinks about her, rekindling old sparks. Pia, however, is now dating other men, including Milo, a yoga instructor played by Phil Dunster, who attempts to convince her of the Earth’s flatness and insists she walk on hot coals—highlighting his quirky personality and contrasting with her cautious nature.

As wedding preparations progress, tensions rise. Pia reveals that her attempts with Sid, a wealthy man played by Asim Chaudhry, didn’t work out. Sid had offered her financial support for her studio but only in a social capacity, suggesting a marriage of convenience rather than love. Her mother’s efforts to set her up with Sid lead to an awkward situation, especially after Pia causes an embarrassing accident involving Sid’s toilet. Later, Pia learns that her mother, Laxmi, has been secretly involved with Akshay, which complicates her feelings and causes further family tension.

One of the turning points occurs during a wedding event when Pia somehow causes her social media video to go viral. The clip captures her discussing the meaning of photography—“taking a photo is about capturing a moment in time and making it live forever”—and quickly garners widespread attention. This unexpected fame results in her studio being booked solid for months, bringing her both success and chaos. During the celebration, Pia’s relationship with her family is tested, especially when she finds her mother making out with Akshay, prompting a moment of reconciliation with her sister Sonal.

Throughout the story, Pia’s romantic journey gets more complex.
