The script relies heavily on Haunted House Movie 101 conventions, blending historical facts about the DeFeo murders with supernatural beats that disrupt coherence. Pacing oscillates between rushed exposition and extended setup with few genuine surprises. Consequently, the plot coherence and originality are too thin to maintain sustained engagement.

The sensory presentation combines an evocative soundtrack and set design with inconsistent visual effects. The garage rock–infused score and authentic period details enhance atmosphere, and sound design generates occasional tension. At the same time, CGI sequences register as jarring and detract from overall visual cohesion. While individual elements succeed in isolation, the sensory mix remains uneven across the film’s runtime.

Regarding rewatch value, the film offers little incentive for repeat viewings. Scares are largely predictable and fail to build lasting suspense, while narrative confusion dampens enjoyment on subsequent watchings.
