What Is The 15th Stone About?
The premise of The 15th Stone without spoilers.
Set in a museum before the 1510 oil painting “The Annunciation,” João Bénard da Costa, director of the Portuguese National Film Archives, interviews a 96‑year‑old dean of contemporary directors, filmed by Rita Azevedo Gomes. The two humanists, from different philosophical backgrounds, discuss the director’s power as creator or magician, the philosophy behind classic scenes, film technique, the role of colour, sound and music, the balance of art versus entertainment, and Leonardo da Vinci’s master‑disciple legacy.
