Surya [Vijay] is a cheerful, easygoing man who often finds himself drawn into petty quarrels. He falls in love with Priya [Priyanka Chopra Jonas], and his brother-in-law Sakthivel, a principled lawyer, advises him to channel his talent for advocacy by working under the veteran Lakshminarayanan [Delhi Ganesh]. As Surya refines his approach, he becomes an upright lawyer who believes in addressing grievances through the law rather than violence.

Sakthivel [Nassar] is killed by a corrupt bigwig GK [Ashish Vidhyarthi] who tries to shield wrongdoing, underscoring the high stakes in Surya’s chosen path. Fueled by this tragedy, Surya commits to a mission: to help ordinary people understand their legal rights and to learn the basics of Indian law. His steadfast dedication quickly earns him a large, grateful following, and he rises in the public eye as a symbol of accessible justice.

When GK’s dairy factory is found to flout food safety norms, Surya seals the plant in a decisive act of enforcement. Tragedy again touches Surya’s life when his sister Jaya [Revathi] is harmed by GK’s goons; he refuses to yield, even as danger mounts. GK’s henchmen unleash a riot in a village and try to frame Surya for the chaos, leading to his arrest and brutal beating by corrupt police officers. Yet Surya holds firm to his legal principles and mounts a principled defense in court, proposing concrete reforms to India’s judicial system.

After a period of struggle, Surya is released, and GK makes a final attempt on his life, only to be overwhelmed by the public’s anger and support for Surya. The leaders and the people alike recognize his service when he is honored by the President of India, a moment that signals a wider change inspired by his work. In the end, the film suggests that Surya’s dream has begun to come true: a nation where justice is more transparent, and where a common citizen can understand and exercise his rights with confidence.
