Sympathisanten - Unser deutscher Herbst (2018): Cast

Set in West Germany during the 1970s, this film explores the climate of suspicion surrounding artists, journalists, and intellectuals accused of sympathizing with the Baader-Meinhof Group’s left-wing terrorism. Drawing on extensive archive materials, film clips, and private diaries of director Margarethe von Trotta, the film offers a poignant look at one family’s experience and the broader societal anxieties of the era, particularly affecting the director’s parents and stepfather, Volker Schlöndorff.
