Swing Shift Maisie 1943

Maisie Ravier loses her job as an assistant in Horatio Curley’s dog act after a minor quarrel with test pilot Breezy McLaughlin. Breezy manages to land Curley a position at the Victory Aircraft factory and offers to use his influence to help Maisie as well, but she remains determined to prove herself on her own merits. She secures a swing shift at the factory, and Breezy arranges a room for her at Maw Lustvogel’s boarding house, where Maisie’s feelings toward him gradually shift from skepticism to affection.

Maisie’s compassion extends beyond her own life when she stops a suicide attempt by Iris Reed, a failed actress who lives across the hall, and persuades Iris to seek work in the same place.
