Morgan Sher, a crime scene cleaner, handles grisly work with a clinical calm that belies a deeper struggle to form meaningful connections. Each body, each shuddering detail, layers another level of distance from the world outside the morgue. Her ability to neutralize the horror around her masks a stubborn reluctance to let people in, a shield built from years of listening to others’ traumas without ever voicing her own.
