Su.. Su… Sudhi Vathmeekam 2015

Sudhi Valmeekam, Jayasurya, is a middle-aged branch manager at Karur Vysya Bank in Bangalore who has lived with a stammer since childhood. One Sunday, he drops by the branch to oversee the making of a film within the story, featuring Mukesh and Greagon, a character brought to life by Aju Varghese. The shoot drags on longer than expected, and Sudhi ends up missing his planned overnight bus to Kerala, leaving him to tag along with Mukesh as the production unspools.

On the road, Mukesh warms to Sudhi after an initial clash, and Sudhi begins opening up about the troubles his stammer has caused throughout life. He recounts a childhood and youth where speaking up felt like a daily battle. In his twenties, he works as an office staff member at a school where the administrator Kuruppu, an abusive figure, steers fear and humiliation. Sudhi finds friendship among a small circle that includes Greagon, the physical education teacher, while staying close to Sreedevi, the school’s principal, and her deaf and mute daughter Tara. Sudhi’s parents are deeply supportive, yet they worry about how his stammer holds him back. Confidence remains elusive, and even everyday tasks can feel like uphill fights as Sudhi tries to express himself.

A controversial stint with a holistic doctor offers alternative therapies that prove ineffective, adding to the sense that real progress will require more than quick fixes. Sudhi also meets Sheela, a prospective marriage partner who seems to understand his condition. The pair form a connection, and Sheela appears ready to accept Sudhi as he is. To help him, she arranges a session with a speech therapist, Kalyani, who makes a blunt admission: there is no cure for stammering—only ways to live with it. Her message changes the course of Sudhi’s mindset, and while Sheela ultimately ends the engagement, the experience plants seeds of resilience in Sudhi, who sinks into a period of depression and withdrawal from school life.

Back at the school, the owner Vijay Babu arrives to push ISO certification, and the dynamic shifts as Sudhi encounters Kalyani again, this time as a temporary communication teacher. Although he starts with anger, Kalyani convinces him to embrace stammering as an incurable condition that can be managed with effort and support. Their bond deepens, and she eventually proposes to him, a moment that prompts Sudhi to reassess his own worthiness and the path he is willing to take to pursue love and a meaningful life. Sudhi’s resistance gives way to a determined attempt to become someone capable of marrying Kalyani, and she leaves for Bangalore with the emotional weight of their decisions.

The school’s troubles come to a head when Sreedevi uncovers that Kuruppu has been siphoning money through Sudhi’s name. Before she can go to the police, Kuruppu orchestrates her arrest, leaving Sudhi to protect Tara in her absence. He gathers the necessary documents, bravely brings them to the police, and exposes Kuruppu’s wrongdoing, even as he resigns from the job that had tethered him to the school’s fate. This crisis becomes Sudhi’s turning point, fueling a renewed determination to step into the wider world.

With newfound confidence, Sudhi pursues further education, lands interviews, and ultimately secures a clerical-to-managerial path at Karur Vysya Bank in Bangalore. Through perseverance and hard work, he earns a promotion to assistant manager, and a chance encounter with Kalyani leads to a proposal he happily accepts. The story threads together Sudhi’s professional ascent with a personal life shaped by acceptance and partnership.

When Sudhi returns to his hometown with Mukesh for the film’s wrap, Mukesh witnesses the life Sudhi has built: a loving marriage to Kalyani, a school that has learned to celebrate Tara alongside Sudhi’s own growth. Tara’s presence, and the recognition of Sudhi’s journey, marks a satisfying close as Mukesh heads back to his next shoot, carrying with him the sense that Sudhi has finally found his place both at home and in the world beyond.
