SST: Death Flight 1977

On Maiden 1, the first American supersonic transport, Captain Jim Walsh, Robert Reed is at the controls for a bid to set a world speed record from New York to Paris. The flight crew includes Roy Nakamura, [Robert Ito], the flight engineer; stewardess Mae, [Tina Louise], and steward David, [Billy Crystal]. Trouble arrives when Les Phillips, [George Maharis], a disgruntled employee, sabotages the hydraulic system in an attempt to strike back at Basset. The sabotage triggers a massive inflight leak, and as the crew works to repair the damage, an explosive decompression ruptures a medical shipment of Senegal Flu, brought aboard by Dr. Ralph Therman, [Brock Peters]. With the virus on board, the SST is suddenly refused landing rights in Europe, turning a celebratory flight into a crisis. The pilots attempt a diversion to Senegal—the only country with experience handling the virus—but there isn’t enough fuel to reach a safe destination, forcing an emergency landing in a remote mountain pass.

In the aftermath, the spectacle of a luxury flight becoming a life-and-death ordeal unfolds. Some passengers are killed in the crash, while most survive, navigating the delicate balance between fear, endurance, and the will to press on. As the wreckage and weather close in, the crew and survivors face a daunting fight to preserve life, manage the outbreak, and find a path to safety, all while the clock continues to run.
