After being fired as a soda jerk, Speedy spends a carefree day with his girlfriend at Coney Island before taking a cab‑driver job that delivers Babe Ruth to Yankee Stadium, where he remains to watch the game. When a railroad company attempts to push his girlfriend’s grandfather’s horse‑drawn trolley off the tracks, Speedy rallies the neighborhood’s older residents to foil the scheme and preserve the beloved local line.
