Two companion sorceresses, the overpowered Lina Inverse and the underdressed Naga the Serpent, wander into the town of Stoner, famed for its enterprising golem makers. There they rescue a young girl named Laia Einberg from an out-of-control golem, and the two magical duo hopes for a well-deserved reward. Laia leads them to her workplace and introduces them to her father, Galia, and her brother, Huey Einburg. Galia is a renowned crafter of classic toy golems, celebrated for his skill, yet he’s recently feeling the pinch of money troubles. The tension between him and Huey—over how their golems should look and act—creates a brewing clash of visions within their workshop.
Huey Einburg grows infatuated with Naga’s striking appearance, while Galia develops a soft spot for Lina. This shared interest nudges them to select both sorceresses as the inspiration and models for their next generation of golems. As the town prepares for a major festival, an event looms: enormous, remote-controlled golems are set to clash in a grand competition. The outcome will determine which of the two feuding lords sponsoring the festival—Haizen and Granion—will seize control of Stoner. In a clever bit of intrigue, both lords secretly intend to mass-produce these colossal toys as weapons of war, turning play into political leverage.
Haizen enlists Huey Einburg as well as Naga the Serpent for his golem project, while Granion quietly contracts Lina Inverse and Galia to power his own design. The arrangement sets the stage for a clash that’s as much about rival loyalties as it is about magical prowess. Lina and Naga, now bound to opposing workshops, are drawn into a dramatic duel that spills from spellcasting into the very physicality of their golems, turning the arena into a battleground of living art.
Huey’s sabotage of Galia’s resources complicates the plans, as the golem built around Lina is made with Lina herself sleeping inside, meant to lure out her magic and power the machine during the tournament. Meanwhile, Huey has lured Naga into his golem, creating a scenario where a powerful sorceress stands inside each towering construct. To Lina’s dismay—and Granion’s disappointment—the golem created in her image is not a graceful warrior, but a comically oversized, super-deformed kawaii figure called Piko-Piko Lina-chan (Lina Doll in the dub). Galia’s odd, almost mischievous design choice contrasts sharply with Huey’s more imposing, full-bodied Naga replica, and the mismatch irks Lina even more when she sees the larger Grand Goddess golem that mirrors Naga’s voluptuous features.
As the battle commences, Piko-Piko Lina-chan’s tiny limbs struggle to land a hit on the Grand Goddess, while Naga simply toys with her opponent. Lina’s magic, though potent, is absorbed by the golem’s magical countermeasures, rendering her spells largely ineffective. A single devastating blow from the Grand Goddess creates a gaping hole in the back of Lina’s golem. Enraged but resolute, Lina frees herself and unleashes her fiercest spell, the feared Dragu Slave, which defeats the Grand Goddess. Yet victory comes at a price: Lina’s spell tears through the fortresses of both Haizen and Granion, leaving the two lords understandably furious.
With the golems exhausted and the townsfolk’s patience thinning, Lina flees the enraged Naga, and both sorceresses are pursued by their respective lords’ guards. The chase ends when the Piko-Piko Lina-chan runs out of power and collapses, pulling the chase to a halt. In the aftermath, the festival’s political landscape shifts: the ex-lords Haizen and Granion are relegated to guard duties for the king, effectively reshaping the town’s power structure.
In the quiet that follows, Galia and Huey begin to resolve their differences, choosing to pursue a new dream—making toys that strike a balance between cute and sexy. The once-proud Piko-Piko Lina-chan remains a quirky emblem of Stoner, a mascot that has become inseparable from the town’s identity. And somewhere beyond the immediate spectacle, Lina and Naga resume their wandering partnership, as unpredictable and bickering as ever, yet bound together by shared adventures and the thrill of the road.
