Skullduggery 1983

A close-knit group of young adults who work at a costume rental shop also collaborate on a fantasy role-playing game, weaving a shared story that grows darker as it spills into real life. The arc begins with Adam (Thom Haverstock), a young man who is the latest in a long line of men rumored to be cursed by the devil. During a community college theater performance, a mysterious Simco the Magician materializes and lays a curse on Adam, forcing him to remember the fateful legacy of his ancestors and to believe, with unsettling conviction, that he truly is a warlock.

As the curse deepens, Adam slides further into a fog between fantasy and reality. He becomes convinced that he is on a quest to kill certain people, and his grip on what is real weakens as the body count rises. The local police are baffled, and no one suspects that Adam is a deranged killer being commanded by a malevolent force, not a rogue player in a game.

The plot intensifies when Adam attends a costume party hosted by Dr. Evel, a sorcerer who wants Adam to join his cult and to kill most of the guests. The tension between illusion and homicide thickens, drawing the community into a nightmare where every alibi frays and every motive feels supernatural.

When the authorities finally corner Adam in a factory, they shoot him, but his body vanishes, leaving only a puppet behind. The survivors uncover a chilling turn: the living suit of knight’s armor that has replaced him begins to act, and it kills their dungeon master. In a startling revelation, they learn that their dungeon master was Dr. Evel, and by extension, the devil himself, turning their game into a grim mirror of their own haunted reality.
