In April 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a college student named Tyler Murphy is killed in his dorm room by a masked intruder who appears after receiving anonymous text messages. The same season of fear and uncertainty frames a different crisis for two close friends: Parker Mason [Gideon Adlon] and Miri Woodlow [Bethlehem Million], who decide to quarantine together at Parker’s family lake house, sharing glimpses of their trip on Instagram as a way to stay connected.

Upon arriving, Parker starts receiving unsettling messages from an unknown number, adding a chill to their already tense weekend. That night, a mysterious visitor arrives at the house and is revealed to be DJ Cole [Dylan Sprayberry], Parker’s fling. She cautiously allows him to stay the night, but the mood is quickly overshadowed by suspicion and insecurity, especially after DJ confronts Parker about an Instagram post showing her kissing a boy named Benji [Logan Murphy], leading Parker to insist that she’s not seeking anything serious.

The danger escalates when a masked intruder slips into the house while everyone sleeps, stealing all the phones. As DJ wakes, a loud party vibe echoes from downstairs, and the intruder closes in on the sleeping Miri. DJ rushes to protect her, subdues the intruder, and helps Miri escape to Parker, but the attacker overpowers DJ, fatally stabbing him with a metal pike. The trio’s attempt to flee ends when their tires are discovered to be slashed and the getaway vehicle becomes useless, forcing a desperate retreat back to the house.

Parker and Miri flee through the attic in a bid for safety, but the intruder pursues relentlessly, pushing Miri off the roof. Parker faces the intruder in the kitchen and, after a brutal struggle, gains the upper hand and strikes him down. A second masked figure arrives, dismayed to find his accomplice slain. Outside, Parker finds Miri alive but badly injured with a shattered leg, urging her to pretend to be dead as Parker contends with the new threat and leads him toward the lake.

Parker manages to reach the highway and immobilizes the second intruder just as a car pulls up. Inside, the driver refuses to help unless Parker wears a mask, and offers a spare one that turns out to be laced with chloroform, knocking her out. Parker is taken back to the lake house along with the intruder, where a shocking COVID-19 test sequence unravels the ruse: the husband and wife Jason [Marc Menchaca] and Pamela [Jane Adams] orchestrate the nightmare, revealing that their younger son, Benji [Logan Murphy], is the one Parker had seen kissing, not Parker’s own romantic intentions. They also reveal that their elder son—the dead intruder—was involved, and that Tyler Murphy’s murder was connected to Parker’s alleged role in infecting Benji.

Desperate to reach help, Miri attempts to contact the authorities via a laptop, but Jason notices the active Wi‑Fi and destroys the router. As Jason roams the house searching for the girls, Pamela threatens Parker, but Miri sneaks up and strikes Pamela with a liquor bottle, allowing Parker to fling Pamela through a window. Jason returns and storms upstairs to hunt them down, only to be hurled over a banister onto a set of deer antlers, killing him.

The two friends flee to a nearby barn and find a utility vehicle. While Parker retrieves gasoline, Pamela—still alive—returns and attacks, leading to a frantic confrontation in which Pamela is doused with fuel and set ablaze by Miri. Pamela collapses onto the road outside, burning as the police arrive, while Parker and Miri watch the flames consume the threat that had haunted them throughout a night of fear, isolation, and survival.
